Dear CCAM Partners,
Gioia's sister Sue Woodward called me a few minutes ago with an update on Buntheep's condition. The nurses lighten up her sedatives periodically to check that she is OK. They've removed the breathing tube and there have been no complications or bleeding, though she has expected pain in her nose area from the surgery. The really good news is that her eye that had been completely blind is now responding to light! Her other eye continues to improve. Later today, they intend to wake Buntheep up and put her in a wheelchair to ride around a bit, and move her out of ICU into a room. She's been wide awake one time to interact with Gioia in Khmer, and is handling the situation quite well.
The expert on the embolism procedure is due back in town on Tuesday, so we can pray that human medical progress can move forward when he (or she) returns. Buntheep was disappointed when she learned that she'd need more surgery, but understand the situation and accepts it gracefully.
Gioia mentioned that the place where she got access to the internet is apparently closed for the weekend; so she doesn't have email access just now - perhaps not until Monday.
Let's continue holding Buntheep, Gioia, and the doctors in prayer that God might glorify his Name!
