HE HEARS US WHEN WE CALL
May 15, 2013

Dear CCAM Partners and Friends,

Praise God for more answered prayers! Due to some recent large donations, we have received enough funds to cover May expenses! Please keep praying that God will stabilize our financial base over the long haul.

Another answer to prayer is volunteer Jessica Cook, who is now here at CCAMS helping Gioia train students in the art of songwriting. So far, ten new Khmer Christian songs have been created in traditional styles, or in mixtures of traditional and contemporary styles. Now students are experimenting with writing contemporary-style Christian songs in both Khmer and English languages. Jessica is also teaching keyboard and voice lessons. One of the songs her students are learning to sing is “He Knows My Name.” What a comfort that our God knows all of our names and that He hears us when we call! Please continue to pray for Jessica as she shares her musical gifts with us for the glory of God!

And still another answer to prayer is volunteer Amanda Metzger, who has recently arrived at CCAMS to sew our ballet costumes! Not only that, but she will also be a guest teacher for the ballet class. Please pray for Amanda to have strength and wisdom from God, especially while sacrificing long hours at the sewing machine!

During our second filming session on April 27, we experienced some difficulties early in the day, including lack of electricity, but by 10:00 a.m. all such obstacles were overcome through God’s answer to all of our prayers. For the rest of the day, the electrical power was steady, and we also experienced the Holy Spirit’s power to complete the filming of three major dances which are difficult to perform. Praise God! This coming Saturday (May 18) will be our third filming session. Please remember to pray for us on that day!

In tandem with the music project, the dance project, and the filming project, we are still working on the book project. Gioia continues to direct the creative aspects and Kelsey is in charge of the print production and distribution.

A new CCAMS children’s book entitled “Remember,” written by former student Sraws Long (Flynn) and illustrated by current student Chao Chan, has recently been mass produced and distributed to local stores! This is a caterpillar-to-butterfly story with a creative twist based on 2 Corinthians 5:17.

Another book ready for publication is “A Hole of His Own,” written by Gioia and illustrated by Chao Chan. It is a story for younger children about the love of two big sisters for their little brother, based on Philippians 2:4.

“Blackie’s Boy,” written by former student Narun Pen and illustrated by current student Sambath Ros, is almost ready to print. It is the story of a dog’s sacrificial love for his boy, with a parallel plot about a Cambodian Christian offering practical help to that boy, witnessing about Christ, and eventually welcoming him as a believer into his church. The story is inspired by Hebrews 11:6.

Please pray for project funds to mass produce each new book! We have submitted copies of our first three published books to Room-to-Read to obtain government approval for distribution to libraries all across Cambodia. Pray that we will be able to complete a few more books to submit by the deadline at the end of this month. Then pray that the government officials will choose our books, and in so doing, may also be influenced by the message within!

The ultrasound image reveals that Reaksmey’s baby is a girl! Please pray for good health for mother and baby and for an uncomplicated delivery.

Answering His Call,
Gioia and Noren for the CCAMS Family
