UNEXPECTED BLESSING

Dear CCAM Partners and Friends,

As reported in previous emails, our request to visit a prison in Kandal province was first delayed and then denied by the prison authorities, even after we had purchased with donated funds all of the gift supplies (like toothbrushes, toothpaste, and noodles), and had already prepared the care packages! The longer we waited for a new date to be set at another prison, the closer the expiration dates of the noodles approached!

Finally, Pastor Kakada was able to secure permission for another outreach at a prison in Kompong Thom province on September 15. However, even there the authorities subsequently changed the date, and then withdrew their permission! As we prayed about it, the Lord showed us what to do.

We learned that Pastor Kakada’s church was planning a youth camp, plus a seminar for church leaders, in Preah Vihear province for September 21-23. They were joining with ten churches that had been planted there almost 3 years ago in very poor communities. Their youth had tried to raise enough money to cover expenses, but still did not have enough. Therefore, we offered to donate our care packages to help their efforts. And so, in this unexpected way, God blessed Pastor Kakada’s church planting ministry! CCAM also donated 200 copies of “Remember,” one of our Christian children’s books written and illustrated by students and staff, to be distributed to their children and youth.

Even though, to us, this blessing seemed to be “unexpected,” God knew all along for whom the blessing was intended! And all of the negative experiences that occurred during the intervening weeks and months dealing with prison authorities were also allowed by Him for His own purposes. For sure, they represented the spiritual warfare that has ensued in response to the fruitful prison ministry that God empowered Pastor Kakada to accomplish at the prison in Kompong Cham province during the past few years. Remember, we partnered with him in January for an outreach there, rejoicing that most of the long time inmates already believed in Jesus, while witnessing that many of the new arrivals prayed to receive Jesus on that very day! Click here to view a documentary video of that outreach.

We believe that the planting of spiritual seeds in the hearts of the youth in Preah Vihear will surely produce a harvest of righteousness, thereby protecting them from lives of sin that, if followed, could possibly put some of them behind prison bars in the future! So please pray for God’s continued blessings upon Pastor Kakada’s church planting ministry!

And let’s not forget to pray for the prison ministry as well, that our God will cause the prison doors across Cambodia to start opening once again to welcome our outreach teams bringing His Good News to prisoners!

Expecting future blessings!
