CCAM EASTER 2016

Dear CCAM Partners and Friends,

On Easter Sunday, everyone at CCAM piled into two tuk-tuks to travel across town to worship and fellowship with our good friends at Open Gate Church!  Although we have three cars, we currently have no resident drivers, since Sophun has left CCAM and Kelsey is temporarily networking for CCAM in America.

The worship songs and the preaching at Open Gate all confirmed what we have been learning from the Word of God and teaching for the past twenty years…that members of the Body of Christ should continually be reconciled, never divided asunder by differences, and that whenever the Body of Christ HAS been broken apart by irreconcilable members, those who remain in the Body and continue to trust in the Lord will eventually see His restoration of what has been stolen!  We were reminded by the Easter story to claim God’s continuing demonstration of resurrection power in all of our lives and ministries!

Before and after the service, we enjoyed sharing past updates and discussing plans for the future with Pastor Rien, his wife, and other church leaders.  And today we were also very encouraged by Pastor Rien’s special visit to CCAM to continue discussing and praying together!

On the Monday after Easter, everyone at CCAM piled into one of our own vans to travel to Kompong Cham province for an outreach!  So who was our driver that day?  Sarath Seng, a former CCAM student, who has been coming to CCAM periodically during Kelsey’s absence to drive the cars around and keep them operational.  His wife Bopha, who is also a former student, served as our costume coordinator for the day.  Two of their children came along to enjoy the outing with the rest of us!

Nary and Chandy, guardians of Anlongkoki Presbyterian Church in Prayk Kawi, had invited us to join them for an outreach to the local children living around the church.  The national road from Phnom Penh to Kompong Cham was very smooth, but when we turned onto the dirt tracks through the jungle, our travel became very slow and bumpy! Often the narrow roads skirted steep cliffs having no guard rails! After getting lost a few times, we finally made it to our destination, guided by many phone calls!

Once we arrived, the CCAM Junior Team performed “The Coconut Dance,” recited Scripture, sang songs about the resurrection of Jesus, and read aloud the CCAM storybook about butterflies entitled “Remember.”  Then Noren shared a Children’s Sermon, explaining about the death and resurrection symbolism of the butterfly.  After that, the Junior Team distributed gift books of “Remember” to all of the children who could read.  These were reminded to read their books to the younger children.

After sharing a picnic lunch at the church, we bid them all a fond farewell and piled back into our van for the trip back home.

Next Sunday, we are looking forward to the return of Sarath and his family to travel with us by van to worship at Open Gate Church again!  That afternoon, we have all been invited to attend a special celebration at one of the church member’s homes to fellowship and eat traditional noodle soup!

God is so good, as He continues to reconnect us with those He has chosen!
