SAGA OF “THE HOUSE”
June 12, 2016

Dear CCAM Partners and Friends,

Back in February, the CCAMS remnant went to pray in “The House” that we believed God was providing for us, asking Him to give us a sign of His intentions.  The real estate agent called us the very next day to announce that the landlord’s mother, who had previously desired to sell the house, had now decided to rent the house to us!

However, since then, the devil has been trying to close this door that God apparently opened.  First, someone came along who did offer to buy the house, so the mother of the landlord decided to pursue that option.  But she said that if that deal fell through, she would still rent to us.  Well, after a long wait, the deal did fall through, but then she decided to raise the rent!  When we could not pay that amount, she said that she would rather sell the house anyway, because she was afraid that the CCAMS students might damage her house.  So we kept praying for God to choose the right house for us, if not this one, then another one.  But we knew that if the Lord had chosen this house for us, no one else would be able to buy it or rent it.  (Revelation 3:7-8)

Still praying for a miracle concerning that house, we began going out once again looking for other housing options.  But just as we had already discovered while looking for houses the past two years, there just didn’t seem to be anything available that adequately met our needs and price range.  When CCAM Board Member Rosie Chase came to volunteer at CCAMS in May, she accompanied us to look at a few houses that were obviously not suitable.  But we also prayed together for God to clearly reveal His housing choice!

In response to our prayers, we believe that the Lord led us to call the real estate agent to make an appointment with the landlord to see “The House” again, explaining that we wanted to show it to one of our board members (Rosie) who was visiting us.  Also, we explained that from now on, the CCAMS students would not be living in the house with us, but would live outside and just visit during the day to attend classes.  This greatly calmed the landlord’s mother’s fears that her house might be damaged by the students.  Also, in the areas of the house where students would have been living, new allocations of space could now provide an extra classroom, a recording studio, and a guest room.  So this seemed yet another way that God was turning evil into good!

Then we told the landlord that our board member had experience raising funds through the internet using Go Fund Me.  Therefore, if they would rent the house to us for two years, we had a plan to raise money to buy the house.  But then the landlord said that someone else had just offered to buy the house, so they needed to follow that lead first!  While waiting for their answer, Rosie and Kelsey went on prayer walks to our special house for many days in a row.   All of us claimed that land and house for the Lord Jesus Christ, to be a beacon of His truth and righteousness, starting in that neighborhood and spreading out as far as our influence might reach!

Finally, we learned that the potential sale of the house did not materialize!  So the landlord’s mother decided to rent the house to us for two years, during which time we could raise funds to buy it.  But this time she was asking for a deposit of six months’ advance rent!  We had only two months’ rent available, already provided by special donations, so once again we had to wait for the owners to decide whether or not to continue with us.

After many more delays, the real estate agent notified us that the owners had agreed to our terms and were preparing the rental contract.  But when we read their contract, we discovered that it did not accurately reflect our terms, so we decided to submit our own contract.  There were many more delays while we negotiated the revision of our contract to suit both parties.  Then we were again waiting many days for their decision.

Finally today, the family spokesperson notified us that they had decided not to rent the house, but to return to their previous decision to sell it instead.  So unless they change their minds again, or unless large funds are donated to purchase the property, this email marks the end of our current Saga of “The House.”  Tomorrow we will resume house hunting, trusting that (if the door to this house is truly closed) God will lead us to something else that is similar, or perhaps even better!

“For My thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways My ways,” declares the Lord.
For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are My ways higher than your ways,
and My thoughts than your thoughts.” Isaiah 55:8-9

Please pray for God’s perfect will to be done on our behalf!
