Dear CCAM Partners and Friends,

CCAM is excited to introduce our newest ministry partners, Sambat and Danielle Long!  They will be overseeing our new dorm ministry, as well as serving in other important capacities as well.  Thank God with us for this answer to prayer!

Sambat and Danielle met in 2005 in Kampong Cham, Cambodia, while Danielle was serving as an undercover missionary and art teacher at a government run orphanage, and Sambat was working with World Vision Cambodia as a Christian Commitment Coordinator. God was in every detail of their relationship and was always one step ahead of them making the impossible possible; bringing Danielle half-way around the world to fall in love with a people group, and then with Sambat, and then allowing them to get married in the US. They will celebrate their eleven-year anniversary in January.  They have been blessed with two daughters, Elsie, now seven years old, and Lydia, almost two years old.

Danielle is an artist and visual art teacher who has been teaching most recently in Baltimore City Schools and is currently teaching part-time at Logos International School here in Phnom Penh.  Sambat is a musician, worship leader, and recording technician who has mostly been working to rearrange some old Khmer hymns and record them in a more modern style.   Both Sambat and Danielle have a huge heart for missions in Cambodia; it is what brought them together in the first place.

Sambat started a church plant in his family’s home village in 1999 when more than half of his family became Christians, after witnessing miracles and hearing Sambat share about Jesus.  Today, just about every member of his extended family (more than 110 people) have accepted Christ, and even more of the surrounding villagers. Sambat and Danielle have been encouraging the church and offering educational projects and seminars there.  During their ten years living in America, they have led mission trips back to Cambodia every couple of years and God has continually given them Isaiah 61 (Beauty for Ashes) as a prayer and vision for their ministry in Cambodia. What a surprise when they learned that CCAM has also chosen that same Scripture for their vision and for their logo!

The Long’s have just answered God’s call in what they believe to be His perfect timing.  They relocated to Phnom Penh, Cambodia from Baltimore, MD in September.  They were led to seek out like-minded ministries with a focus of helping to break the cycle of poverty through education and also using the arts to bring people closer to God.  They were led straight to CCAM after praying for their nieces, nephews, and other children in the village who had been struggling to study, with no access to grade seven and above, a teacher who was absent more than present, and parents who needed them to work to pay off their debts.  At the same time, CCAM was praying for God to raise up dorm managers, as well as to send more Christian artists to partner with them!

Sambat and Danielle are currently housing six students, as well as their own two children, in a small two-bedroom apartment. They obviously have a sense of urgency and a passion to help children have a bright future.  They are excited to oversee the dorms and be a positive influence for the students, as well as to see all that God will do through the school, the children, and the community being established.  Danielle will be teaching a drawing and painting class at the CCAM School, while Sambat will be setting up and managing our recording studio. They will also be helping to fundraise and move forward by faith with securing the dorms and opening the school.

Praise God with us for yet another divine appointment!  And please continue to pray for God to completely supply all the funding needed for both the school and the dorm ministries!
